Professor Qichang Yang is a chief scientist and director of the research center for protected agriculture & environmental engineering(CPAE,
Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture(IEDA),Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), and the director of Key Lab of Energy Saving & Waste Management of Agricultural Structures, Ministry of Agriculture(MOA), P.R. China.
He received his MS degree (1987) and PhD degree (1996) in Bio- Environment Engineering at China Agricultural University. As a visiting scholar, he studied on greenhouse environment engineering in System and Control group(SCO),Wageningen University during Apr. 2005 to Apr. 2006, and a senior visiting scholar on greenhouse engineering in the University of Arizona during Oct.2013 to Jan.2014.
His main research activities included plant factory, greenhouse engineering and LED light in horticulture. As a chief scientist he is now in charge of a large project: research on intelligent plant factory production technology (national high sci.& tech. project supported by Chinese gorverment,2013-2017,$8,000,000) .In the past ten years, he organized or participated in 35 national research projects, and (co-)published more than 150 papers, among which 40 papers have been quoted by SCI and EI, 5 monographs.
He has received several honor and awards for his scientific excellence, include a national sci. & tech. progress prize in 2009, a winner of special government allowance(2010),a national gold medal of patent (2011) and a national expert with outstanding contributions(2013) .He is the chair of Greenhouse Design Working Group(2014-) of International Society for Horticultural Science(ISHS), and convener of Greensys 2017 organized by ISHS.
